WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE

When the first time I entered the gates of this school, I knew that this among the other institutions, would make a big difference in my life.  The picturesque scenery, the wonderful landscapes, the warm and approachable teachers and staff, created a sense of vision that I will reach my goal of success through this university.  I stumbled upon the thought if I made the right decision to enroll in a school like Foundation.  I spent half semester in my first year in college at the Asian College of Science and Technology (ACSAT).  I enrolled in BSIT (Bachelor of Science in Information Technology).  I was really forced then to be at that school due to the decision of my grandmother.  I only have two options or choice in what college I want to spent my four years in after high school graduation; NORSU and FU.  Of course, some people have referred these two schools to me.  NORSU, which is a the only state university in Negros Oriental and FU which has a massive of high qualitative materials and educational tools.  And after the semestral break of 2008, I made a choice to be in Foundation University.

I was attracted to the social garden with coy fishes and the fountain with Dr. Jose Rizal's statue in the middle.  I saw him holding a book in his left hand while sitting and comprehending.  I said education is really the center of mission in this school, not only ordinary education but quality education.  I have made up my mind to choose BSHM-HRM (Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management major in Hotel and Restaurant Management) instead of continuing the course I had in ACSAT.  I know many markets around the world are looking for competent chefs especially in hotels and restaurants.  I continued my quest and during my first year here, I joined the oratorical contest.  I was chosen by our Dean, Ma. Charlotte V. Carino.  I really wanted to improve my confidence.  A series of training and practice, and yes. I won among the rest of the colleges in the university.  After that, I still join another competition during the "Buwan ng Wika," which is the Balagtasan (Filipino Debate).  Another pride was brought to our college 'cause we became the champion for the second time.

One of my classmates in my English class, Clark referred me to the program director of G101, Mrs. Muffet Villegas.  After she listened to my voice while greeting our friends live "on air," she said I have the potential to be part of  the radio station.  I then, was part of the 12 afternoon news anchors.  Great!  Time passed by, and then I was promoted to be one of the Disc Jockeys (DJ's).  I was assigned the Sunday "morning spell" show every 8 am to 12 noon.  My communication skills then became better.  I join several other competitions and brought the bacon home again.  I hosted several major events of the school also.  It was really fun.  And now, I'm ready to face the world.  As the vision of Foundation University states that, "Foundation University envisions itself as a dynamic, progressive environment that cultivates effective learning, generates creative ideas, responds to societal needs and offers equal opportunity to all," it did help me to improve myself more and helps my transformation from better to best.  I am really thankful to Foundation which taught me a lot of things that I will forever bare in mind and heart especially in the field of my work.

I will establish my own business someday.  And I know that with the training this school has brought me and through my dedication, and faith in God. It will be possible!  Thank you Foundation University!  You're the best and yes, I can be what I want to be.
